Dog Poetry
Start each day with stretching.
Next, some meditation makes for a zen dog.
And finally, a well-deserved nap.
Usually it's cats who have the reputation (completely deserved) for egotism. But I have to say, we dogs are pretty awesome. It's a fact. Ask anyone.
Among many well-deserved accolades (because dogs don't have false modesty), poet Mary Oliver wrote something kinda nice about us:
"If
the confident animal coming toward us
had a mind like ours,
the change in him would startle us.
But to him his own being is endless,
undefined, and without regard
for his condition: clear,
like his eyes. Where we see future,
he sees all, and himself
in all, made whole for always."
had a mind like ours,
the change in him would startle us.
But to him his own being is endless,
undefined, and without regard
for his condition: clear,
like his eyes. Where we see future,
he sees all, and himself
in all, made whole for always."
Nice, huh? And perceptive. She got it exactly right.
She would have made a good dog.
