I love taking pictures, and there is so much beauty worthy of capture. But photos can also be a starting point for something that exists only in my imagination.
Here are the images I started with:
The first shot was looking up into the branches of mature oaks. I took that picture yesterday and knew at the time I wanted to play with it.
The clock face and bird I got from thegraphicsfairy.com She finds royalty-free antique images of all kinds, scans them, and puts some of them online for others to use for free. What a nice thing!
The bubble image was another free image, but I don't remember from where.
A lot of what I do is select parts I want to use, move them around, change colors, and make decisions solely based on what strikes me as interesting or attractive. There really is no formula for manipulating images. Each project us unique.
Here's the final composite:
I suppose the whole thing took me four hours, and I'm happy with it. I do sell my photos, but considering the time involved, it's lucky I don't depend on art for a living! Each person starting with the same four images would come up with something entirely different. That's the joy of seeing what other artists create.
